Connect AI Assistants to adtribute with OAuth (adtribute MCP)

Let your team securely connect AI assistants like Claude to adtribute's reporting data

Written by Daniel Busch

Overview

adtribute provides an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that lets AI assistants access your organization's reporting data, so you can ask questions about your attribution and performance data directly in tools like Claude.

With OAuth access, team members connect using their own adtribute login instead of a shared API key. This means:

  • No credentials to share or manage — everyone authenticates with their own account

  • Role-based access — only members with the right permissions can connect

  • Full control — an admin can enable or disable OAuth access for the whole organization at any time

Prerequisites

  • OAuth access must be enabled once for your organization (see below)

  • To connect, a team member needs one of these roles in adtribute: Admin, Editor, or Report Viewer

  • An AI tool that supports remote MCP connectors (this guide uses Claude as the example)

Enable OAuth access for your organization

  1. In adtribute, go to Settings → Developer Settings.

  2. In the MCP Connector URL row, click Enable OAuth access.

  3. A confirmation dialog appears. Read it carefully: once enabled, every member of your organization with the Admin, Editor, or Report Viewer role can connect to the adtribute MCP with their own account and access your organization's reporting data.

  4. Click Enable OAuth to confirm.

Your MCP Connector URL is now displayed. Use the copy button to copy it, you'll need it in the next step.

To turn access off again, return to this page and click Disable OAuth. This immediately blocks all OAuth connections for your organization.

Connect Claude to adtribute

Once OAuth is enabled, any member with a qualifying role can set up the connection:

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector.

  2. Enter a name of your choice (e.g., "adtribute MCP") and paste your MCP Connector URL into the Remote MCP server URL field.

  3. Click Continue. (This screen may look slightly different depending on your Claude plan, but the inputs are the same.)

  4. Claude detects the connection settings automatically. Confirm the preselected options:

    1. Authentication: Always required

    2. OAuth client: No client ID — register one automatically

  5. Leave all other fields empty and click Add.

  6. Click Connect on the new connector. You'll be redirected to the adtribute sign-in page.

  7. Review the requested access and click Allow.

Claude is now connected to your organization's adtribute data, and you can start asking questions about your reports.

Important notes

  • Who can connect: Only members with the Admin, Editor, or Report Viewer role. Members without these roles can't complete the OAuth flow.

  • What's accessible: The connection exposes your organization's reporting data. Consider your team's roles before enabling.

  • Other AI tools: The walkthrough above uses Claude, but the same MCP Connector URL works with any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth.

  • Disabling access: Disabling OAuth in Developer Settings revokes access for the entire organization at once.
