What are Conversions

A conversion is a meaningful business event that represents a successful user interaction within your digital product. It includes significant activities such as completing a purchase, scheduling a meeting, or subscribing to a service.

Conversions are configurable and can be defined based on Events and Entities to match your business needs. You can create new Conversions in the adtribute app to track and measure specific outcomes that matter to your business.

Most standard Conversions are setup automatically when you connect standard Channels. But, Conversions can also be very custom, e.g. leading metrics like starting a configurator, spending x seconds on a page or visiting 3+ pages, etc.

Understanding Conversions

Configuration / Definition

You can create new conversion definitions that align with your business goals and modify them as needed. These conversions are tracked based on your configured definitions and become available in your dashboards for measurement and analysis.

Attributes

Each conversion contains multiple conversion attributes that display the information of the conversion. It encapsulates details of the conversion at the point of time the conversion was captured. For instance, in the case of a Purchase completed conversion, the conversion attributes would contain information like the order value, products purchased, and any other relevant details. You can find and set these up in the Attributes tab.

The combination of the Conversions configuration and attributes help measuring business success and tracking important milestones in the customer journey. As every conversion holds attributes specific to the business event, we can use this information to analyze and optimize marketing performance and user experience.

Creating Conversions & Conversion Atrributes

Unlike Events, Entities and Channels, you can create and configure your own Conversion Definitions. This allows you to define what constitutes a meaningful business event in your specific context. When you want to create or edit one of your Conversions, read this article: Create Custom Conversions.

You can also create Attributes for Conversions to track and use additional business-specific metrics or dimensions / filters. When you want to create or edit one of your Conversion Attributes, read this article: Create Custom Conversion Attributes.
