Rokt Ads
How to connect Rokt Ads to adtribute.
Create Connection in adtribute
Section titled “Create Connection in adtribute”- Open the adtribute App.
- Go to Sources › Connections and click on “Create Connection”.
- Search for “Rokt Ads” and select it.
- Name the Connection as you like, e.g. the Account Name.
The first step, “UTM Settings”, shows the parameters below. Ask your Rokt account manager to add them, then click “I did that”.
Implement UTM Parameters
Section titled “Implement UTM Parameters”adb_ad_source=rokt&adb_ad_id={rokt.campaign.creativeid}Rokt applies these parameters on its side, and Rokt’s advertiser interface has no setting for them: ask your Rokt account manager to add them to the click-through URLs of your Rokt campaigns. Rokt replaces {rokt.campaign.creativeid} with the ID of the clicked creative, by which adtribute matches each click to its creative.
Rokt Ads Connection Flow
Section titled “Rokt Ads Connection Flow”You connect Rokt Ads through Fivetran. You need:
- your Rokt account ID
- an App ID and an App Secret, which you generate in Rokt under Profile settings › Generate Personal API Credentials. If that option is missing, ask Rokt Support to enable API access for your account.
- In the step “Connect Rokt Ads”, click “Connect”. adtribute takes you to a Fivetran page.
- Enter your Rokt account ID, App ID and App Secret there and complete the setup.
Complete Connection
Section titled “Complete Connection”When the setup is complete, Fivetran takes you back to adtribute, which confirms “Rokt Ads connection established”. You find the Rokt Ads connection among your connections under Sources › Connections.
What adtribute brings in
Section titled “What adtribute brings in”The data arrives in the channel “Rokt Ads” under Definitions › Channels, one row per creative and day, with these metrics:
| Metric | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Rokt Ads Spend | The gross cost of the creative, including agency commission, in your organization’s currency. adtribute counts it as your Rokt spend. |
| Rokt Ads Net Spend | The net cost of the creative, excluding agency commission, in your organization’s currency |
| Rokt Ads Impressions | The number of impressions of the creative |
| Rokt Ads Clicks | Rokt’s referrals: clicks through to your website |
| Rokt Ads Acquisitions | The number of conversions Rokt attributes to the creative, by conversion time |
Each row also holds the ID and name of the creative and of its campaign, and your Rokt account ID. Where available, the campaign’s status and objective come with it.
Acquisitions are the conversions Rokt reports, not adtribute’s attribution (see data discrepancies).
- Creatives: Rokt reports creatives within campaigns, with no ad set level in between. A creative that runs in several campaigns is added up per day and shows under the campaign it ran in most recently.
- Revenue: Rokt reports neither revenue nor ROAS, so neither comes in from Rokt.
- Updates: Fivetran syncs your Rokt data every 30 minutes.
- History: the first sync loads all the history Rokt provides.
- Names: creatives and campaigns show with their latest name. A name you change during the day shows from the next day.
How clicks become touchpoints
Section titled “How clicks become touchpoints”adtribute records a visit from a Rokt creative as a Rokt Ads touchpoint when:
- adtribute tracks your website through a connected Domain, and
- the URL of the page the click opens carries
adb_ad_source=rokt, or Triple Whale’stw_source=rokt.
adtribute matches the touchpoint to its creative by the creative ID in adb_ad_id (or tw_adid), so the touchpoint shows with the creative and its campaign. The “Rokt Ads Touchpoint” appears under Definitions › Touchpoints as soon as both your Domain connection and your Rokt Ads connection are connected, in whichever order you connect them. Until your click-through URLs carry the parameters, adtribute can’t match visits from Rokt to a creative.
